OOC Rules

- Always be respectful to everyone around you. Even if you don't particularly get along with someone, please be kind to them. This is expected of the members and expected of the staff as well. Respecting the other members and staff means that you are to be polite and courteous. We take rudeness and threatening very seriously here, and it will not be tolerated in the slightest. 'Respect is earned and not given' does not fit on this site. Respect is given at all times..

- All content is expected to be appropriate. This means no sexual scenes in RP, no posting explicit material anywhere on the forum, as well as no talk of drugs, alcohol, self harm/suicide, debates on religion, and politics. Melancholy State is a PG forum. Swearing is allowed in role-play posts, but only to an extent. We would prefer if every other word is not an f-bomb.

- Spamming is a big no-no. Please do not go skipping around the forum posting things that do not pertain to the topic of the post/board it's posted in, or just random things like "MY DOG IS BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUE!!!!"

- The staff ask that you do not advertise around the forum. There is a board provided for that. However, if you do not wish to advertise your forum in the board provided, you may advertise in your signature, but no where else unless the staff has said they may be posted elsewhere.

- Follow all the rules. In other words, listen to what the staff tells you to do. If something a staff member does seems offensive or rude to you, please report it as we take that very seriously!

- Do not mini-mod. There is a reason we have a staff team here. Your job, as a member, is to just enjoy yourself and role-play, whereas the staff's job is to keep this forum running and a fun place for you all. If you see someone breaking any of these rules, whether they're a staff member or a regular member, please report it.

-Literacy is important! Please limit your chat speak!

IC and Character Rules

- Until further notice, Melancholy State is a feline RPG where loners, kittypets, and rogues are played. Currently there are no Clans, although cats can live together in small groups and have religions of their own. Keep in mind that even though this is a feline RPG, this is not a Warriors role-play; none of the characters that existed in the Warriors series of books by Erin Hunter will exist here.

- No power-playing, god-modding, or meta-gaming. Power-playing is when you play another character that belongs to another player, or autohit another members character without permission. God-modding is similar to power-playing, but is when a character is virtually unbeatable and has no limits or boundaries. The character would be able to do impossible things that are unrealistic and not able to be done in real life. Finally, meta-gaming is when a character in a RP knows something that they really shouldn't/is impossible for them to know.

- Character's must be realistic. Any characters that have, for example, aqua fur will not be accepted and you will be asked to modify your bio.

- You must wait for your bio to be approved by a staff member before you begin to RP with it. If you start to role-play before the bio has been accepted, the thread will be locked.

- We are a free-form RP with no set plot and word count!

- Be literate! No 1337 [chat speak] in your role-play posts!

- Players may only have up to TWO high positions. If they are given a third they will be forced to lose the position.
