It took much effort for Winter to pry herself away from the brick wall and continue to creep forward until the other three cats were inside. The two younger ones, well, they didn't look threatening at all. But the one gnawing on twoleg garbage... The she-cat shuddered, coming close to running in her efforts to get away from the scary cat.
Before she knew it she'd skidded to a stop right in front of the younger cats. Eyes wide, she froze. Oh no.

Northern was stopped from saying anything more as movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Ears pricking, trying to detect any more sounds around, the calico turned toward Winter as the she-cat slid to a halt before herself and the younger she-cat.
For a moment Northern merely blinked her round, odd eyes at the newcomer. For a moment she considered getting up and walking away, but that wasn't polite. She didn't like socializing, but she refused to be rude about it.

When Desolate heard a 'her' coming out of Northern's mouth her head peeked out of the knocked over trashcan. She looked at the two younger ones, brows furrowed. What was with them being all uneasy around her? The other one had attacked a she-cat and asked to follow her out of the blue. And at the mere idea was rendered speechless. The new one? Well she just seemed afraid of the lot of them. "Hey there." Desolate meowed.

Winter's number one rule for staying alive was don't let them see you. And, like the bumbling idiot she was, she'd just stumbled into a motley gathering of complete strangers. Silver fur standing on end, she skittered backwards, away from Northern. The younger cat probably wasn't going to hurt her, but she refused to take any chances. Desolate's words made her flinch before she disappeared behind a scraggly bush, pale eyes staring out at the others.

"How do you know? My only family is dead and has been for a moon!" She snapped, stalking in to the shadows as she ignored all other movement around her. Northern didn't know anything! She didn't know that Reaction had grown up with her mother, a mother who barely even wanted her. She was only six moons old. Six and that was it, but everyone seemed to think she could die in a hole. Well, maybe someday she would, and they would be happy.

Northern's eyes flashed as they settled back onto Reaction. "My parents and both siblings have been dead for two!" The calico responded with a snarl. Desolate's words didn't go lost on her, but Northern was far too irritated at the moment to care she was being spoken to by someone else.

Spitting, Reaction turned and stormed off with a flicking tail, eyes raging. She knew nothing, the stupid cat. Nothing.

Northern remained completely still, watching as the young she-cat stalked off out of sight. It wasn't until moments later that the calico realized she herself was growling; a trait so uncommon to her that she stopped herself abruptly, blinking her odd eyes in confusion.
Stopping her growling, although her hackles remained lifted, Northern to the the other two. "Sorry.." Northern muttered.

"Please, cease with this wallowing of misery, it's not becoming of any progress." Desolate meowed, shaking her head. She didn't care for any of the stories they had. She didn't like how it seemed like a competition of who had the shittest life.
